New Report Says 8 People Were Injured at Disney World in the First Three Months of 2024
A new report from Florida Politics’ Gabrielle Russon has shed light on the injuries that took place at Walt Disney World during the first three months of the year.
For those who don’t know, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) releases a report every three months compiling injuries at Walt Disney World and other Florida theme parks. The parks are required to self-disclose ride injuries where guests were hospitalized for at least 24 hours.
In the latest report, which covers January through March, eight incidents met these requirements.
“The following report is a compilation of data collected from the exempt facilities and reflects only the information reported at the time of the incident,” the FDACS report now says. “Due to privacy-related concerns, the Department does not receive updates to initial assessments of a patron’s condition.”
The January-March 2024 Incidents
Here is what happened so far this year:
Spaceship Earth, of all rides, was the location of two of the eight incidents. A 73-year-old man passed out after riding the attraction, and another guest injured themselves climbing on or off the ride.
Also, over at EPCOT, a 44-year-old woman had a seizure on Frozen Ever After.
Magic Kingdom saw a pair of incidents of its own. A 32-year-old woman fainted on Space Mountain, while next door, a 46-year-old woman felt nauseous and had head pain after riding TRON Lightcycle/Run.
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, one guest was injured getting on or off Kilimanjaro Safaris. Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, meanwhile, a 68-year-old woman experienced shortness of breath on Slinky Dog Dash.
Finally, a 29-year-old man passed out on Summit Plummet at Disney’s Blizzard Beach.
The Full Report Is Not Yet Online
While the incidents listed above were surely scary, it is important to note that eight injuries are a minuscule fraction of the millions of guests who visited Walt Disney World this year.
Finally, we should note that the Florida Department of Agriculture has yet to update the injury report online. That will hopefully be rectified soon.
