Robin Roberts Is Producing a Lainey Wilson Documentary For Hulu
Country music star Lainey Wilson is set to be the subject of a new documentary special being produced by Robin Roberts’s production unit at ABC News Studios. The profile will premiere on Hulu on May 29.
The Roberts-led division has several projects in development, which the ABC star says will focus on telling the stories of empowered women.
“I look forward to telling stories about talented women who are strong and authentic,” Roberts said in a statement. “Lainey is definitely one of those women, and I can’t wait to share her uplifting story with audiences around the world.”
Chronicling Wilson’s Rise to Fame
Wilson has burst onto the country music scene over the past two years, taking home the Entertainer of the Year award at last November’s CMA Awards.

Her award streak continued when she took home the Grammy for Best Country Album earlier this year. This past week, it was announced that she had been nominated for five ACM Awards.
The upcoming Hulu special will chronicle Wilson’s personal story, which included years of struggle. It will include interviews with the Louisiana native’s family members and offer behind-the-scenes looks at her concerts.

Outside of the upcoming Lainey Wilson documentary, Roberts’ division has produced a myriad of projects lately including Pretty Baby: Brooke Shield, Sound of the Police, The Lady Bird Diaries, and Aftershock.
