Hugh Jackman Was Raving About Ryan Reynolds Long Before ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’
Ever since the Deadpool franchise launched in 2016, it has been Ryan Reynolds’s show.
The charismatic actor has risen to superstardom playing the Merc with the Mouth, but it is his friendships and connections with other actors that have helped make the franchise so special. Specifically, his relationship with Deadpool director Shawn Levy.

In a recent interview with People, Levy revealed that his bond with Reynolds actually began on a different project.
“We just had an ease with each other,” he said. “But it really, really manifested on our first time [sitting] down to talk about Free Guy. It was a script that was about video gaming, but we had other themes and messages in mind. And we just connected in terms of wanting to give audiences a movie that transports them, makes them laugh and isn’t embarrassed about being big-hearted.”
Hugh Jackman Had Been Praising Levy For Years
Like Levy, Hugh Jackman, who is set to reprise his iconic role as Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, has long raved about working with Reynolds.
In fact, Long before Levy linked up with Reynolds, Jackman raved about the actor to the future Deadpool director on the set of 2011’s Real Steel.

“Hugh said, ‘For what it’s worth, if you ever meet and work with Ryan Reynolds, you’re never going to stop,’” Levy recalled. “That was 2010. Hugh Jackman, the prophet — a little-known special talent.”
With the relationship between Reynolds’s Merc with the Mouth and Jackman’s X-Man at the heart of the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, the chemistry between the two actors should be on full display. Hopefully, the real-life admiration that Jackman and Levy have for Reynolds translates to the big screen.
