A Women Is Suing Disneyland After She Was Trampled by Goofy
A woman who visited Disney California Adventure in April 2022 is now suing the Disneyland Resort, alleging that she suffered severe injuries when a Cast Member dressed as Goofy fell on her.
Katrina Griffin visited Disney California Adventure on April 3, 2022, with her daughter. In her lawsuit, Griffin alleges that when she was bending over to tie her daughter’s shoes, Goofy “walked directly” into her, causing her to fall onto the cement.
Goofy then allegedly fell on Griffin with “all of his body weight,” which resulted in “severe, traumatic, debilitating, and permanent injuries that necessitated significant medical care as well as emotional pain and suffering.”
Griffin Says She Has “Some Permanent Disability”
Griffin is suing Disneyland, the Cast Member in the Goofy costume, and the Cast Member who was working as the character’s “handler.”
As Disney fans know, characters in the parks are accompanied by another Cast Member who helps them interact with guests. For a non-verbal character like Goofy, the handler would essentially be responsible for “translating” Goofy’s thoughts to guests.
In her suit, Griffin claims that the handler failed to prevent the collision between her and Goofy. She is requesting a jury trial to pursue damages related to pursue damages relate to health care bills. Additionally she is seeking compensation for loss of earnings. Her injuries, she alleges, “will result in some permanent disability.”
A case management conference is scheduled for September 4.
