The Boys Are Back: ESPN Agrees to New Deal With Peyton and Eli Manning
ESPN has locked up two of its biggest stars for the foreseeable future.
The Worldwide Leader in Sports and Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions have extended their deal through 2034, meaning Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli will continue for at least the next nine years.
The new multi-platform media rights extension also covers original series such as Peyton’s Places and Eli’s Places.
The Manning’s Relationship With ESPN
Peyton and Eli Manning originally signed three-year deals with ESPN in 2021 when they launched the alternate broadcast Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli. Typically simulcast on ESPN2, the alternate broadcast proved to be immensely popular.
“The series blends real-time analysis with authentic commentary from two Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks. The brothers are also joined each week by celebrity friends from the worlds of sports and entertainment,” the broadcast’s synopsis reads.
“Since the series debuted in 2021, the ManningCast has become a cultural and critical sensation and credited for popularizing another way for fans to watch live sports.”
More Original Content Is on the Way?
The broadcast won a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Live Series in 2022, and Peyton would win the Emmy for Outstanding Personality/Sports Event Analyst in 2023. The success of the alternate broadcast would lead to a series of other alternate casts in other sports.
In 2022, the Manning brothers extended their contract for another two years. The latest deal will expand the Manning-ESPN partnership to include more original content.
