NEW Downtown Disney Transformation Details Revealed — Including 2 New Restaurants
In case you missed it, Downtown Disney is in the middle of a huge transformation!
Back in 2021, Disney announced that a selection of existing Downtown Disney restaurants and shops would be closing — and opening! — to make way for a huge expansion and reimagining of the area. Disney just shared some new sneak peeks of some of the new restaurants and announced two NEW restaurants — so let’s check them out!
Sneak Peeks of Paseo, Céntrico and Tiendita
Carlos Gaytán, Mexico’s first Michelin-starred chef, is bringing authentic Mexican dishes to Downtown Disney through three different concepts: Paseo, Céntrico, and Tiendita.
At Paseo, the staircase will be quite a sight to see, along with the rest of the decor that celebrates Mexico’s craftsmanship culture. And guests will also be able to get great views of Downtown Disney from the extended upper patio!
Chef Gaytán pairs Mexican cuisine with French culinary style and technique, which will be reflected in dishes such as colorful ceviches, Mama’s cochinita pibil (roasted marinated pork), lamb barbacoa, and the mejillones (mussels).
Céntrico will be the courtyard bar and restaurant location, serving upscale Mexican cuisine and tequila-based cocktails.
The standout dishes will include quesabirrias, chicken enchiladas, tlayuda (a Oaxacan shareable dish kind of like a pizza with a crunch), and Caesar salad, a favorite of Chef Gaytán’s.
Over at Tiendita, grab Mexican dishes and street food staples on the go!
This spot will feature a self-ordering kiosk with menu items such as esquites (roasted corn), fish tacos, ice cream-stuffed chocolate tacos, and breakfast favorites like chorizo breakfast burritos and chilaquiles (marinated tortilla chips with egg).
These three concepts will officially open in Downtown Disney this May.
Din Tai Fung Opening Timeline
Din Tai Fung is a Michelin-awarded restaurant from Taiwan, and Disney just announced that this restaurant will be opening this summer!
Din Tai Fung will feature their signature soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao), wontons, noodles, steamed buns, bok choy, pork chop fried rice, and other dishes served family-style.
New Steakhouse and BBQ Concepts
Disney shared that a steakhouse restaurant and an adjacent barbecue eatery are coming to Downtown Disney! These spots will be located at the former Tortilla Jo’s, which closed in April.
Marceline’s Confectionery Expansion
And finally, Marceline’s Confectionery will be undergoing an expansion and a reimagination! Work will begin soon, which means Disney will be adding a Marceline’s cart to Downtown Disney — so you can still get your favorite handcrafted treats.
While Marceline’s undergoing its transformation, The Disney Dress Shop has moved to WonderGround Gallery temporarily, and some items from WonderGround will be found at Disney Home.
