WATCH: Disneynature Releases Trailer For Upcoming ‘Tiger’ Documentary
The latest chapter in the Disneynature story will be written when Tiger premieres on Disney+ this Earth Day, April 22, 2024.
Narrated by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, the upcoming documentary will follow the adventures of Ambar, a young tigress raising her cubs in the forests of India.
“It’s just wonderful to be able to be a part of something so special and to tell the story of this magnificent animal that comes from my country—I was very honored,” Chopra Jonas said. “I have always loved tigers and I feel a kinship with the female tiger—I feel very protective of my family. Ambar’s journey is something I think every mom would really relate to.”
The Result of 1,500 Days of Filming
In the forest, the young tiger cubs have a lot to learn from their mother, as she must protect the rambunctious young ones from pythons, bears, and even other tigers.
Directed by Mark Linfield, Vanessa Berlowitz, and Rob Sulivan, Tiger is the culmination of 1,500 days of filming.
Also joining Tiger on Disney+ this Earth Day will be a companion film titled Tigers on the Rise. The documentary will celebrate the remarkable comeback that tigers have made in the wild. Both films will be released on Disneynature’s 15th anniversary.
“Tiger populations have rebounded so successfully, many of the big cats are venturing from India’s forest reserves into farms and villages—a monumental challenge for both people and animals. The heroes in this story are the vets, scientists and community patrols dedicated to ensuring that tigers and people can coexist,” the film’s synopsis reads.
