Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan Are In Negotiations to Star in ‘Freaky Friday 2’
The long-awaited sequel to 2003’s Freaky Friday may finally be close to becoming a reality.
According to The Wrap, both Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are in talks to reprise their roles as Tess and Anna Coleman, respectively.
The 2003 comedy fantasy film was the third adaptation of 1972’s Freaky Friday by Mary Rodgers. The film tells the story of a mother and daughter whose bodies are switched by a mysterious magical Chinese fortune cookie.
The film would eventually gross over $160 million worldwide on a budget of only $26 million. Freaky Friday also earned Curtis a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture- Musical or Comedy.
Curtis and Lohan Sound Exited
On Friday, Jamie Lee Curtis posted a photo with Lohan on Instagram.
“DUH! FFDEUX!” she captioned the photo, tagging both Disney and Disney Studios Instagram accounts.

Earlier this month, Lohan confirmed that a Freaky Friday sequel was in the works.
“And we’re both excited,” she said. “I’m gonna speak for Jamie.”
Nisha Ganatra Will Direct
While at this time, not a lot is known about the Freaky Friday sequel, Andrew Gunn, the man behind the 2003 film, is set to return to produce Freaky Friday 2 alongside former Disney executive Kristin Burr.
Nisha Ganatra has been tapped to direct the upcoming film, with Disney hoping to begin production this summer.
At this time, it is unclear if Freaky Friday 2 will be released in theaters or on streaming. Based on the backlog of films set to get theatrical releases, a Disney+ release seems more likely than not. Still, nothing has been confirmed yet.
