The Disney Treasure Reaches a Major Milestone Ahead of Its December Launch
Later this year, another vessel will officially join the Disney Cruise Line when the Disney Treasure sets sail.
The last time we checked in on the progress of Disney’s newest ship, work was being done on the Treasure’s hull at Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenberg, Germany. Then, we learned more about the new Haunted Mansion Parlor that will debut on the ship.
Well, today, I am happy to report that the Treasure has reached another major milestone!
The Disney Treasure Was Set Afloat For the First Time
A few weeks ago, the Meyer Werft Shipyard was bustling with activity when the Disney Treasure was set afloat for the first time!
While the boat isn’t quite ready to sail the seven seas yet, water from Ems River was pumped into the building dock where the ship is being constructed, lifting the hull off the floor.
The team was then able to maneuver the vessel to another workstation. Here, it will undergo its next phase of construction.
So, why go through all the trouble to move the Disney Treasure?
Here Comes the Disney Destiny
It turns out that the team needed to make room for the Disney Treasure’s sister ship, the Disney Destiny.
That’s right! Not only has the Disney Treasure reached a significant milestone, but it will soon sit next to the Disney Destiny in the shipyard.
The sister ships positioning side by side in the shipyard is a testament to the unprecedented era of growth that the Disney Cruise Line is in, with not one but two ships set to join the fleet in the foreseeable future!

As we round the corner in March and head into April, we are now just eight months away from the launch of Disney Treasure. The Disney Destiny, meanwhile, will set sail sometime next year. I, for one, can’t wait!
