Star Wars Takes Over the Empire State Building as the March To May the 4th Begins
If you are a Star Wars fan, then this back week has been a TON of fun.
First, The Acolyte’s trailer premiered, bringing the era of the High Republic to live-action for the first time.
Then, yesterday, we got a slew of announcements, including the return of the Skywalker Saga to theaters, the on-sale date for Star Wars Celebration 2025 tickets, and the news that Blue Milk was coming to grocery stores!
Well, as the march towards May the 4th officially kicked off, Disney Consumer Products and Lucasfilm took over the Empire State Building to celebrate — oh, and by the way, Hayden Christensen was there!
Star Wars Takes Over the Empire State Building
Synched to John Williams’ “The Imperial March (Darth Vader’s Theme),” the event culminated in a showstopping light show displayed on the facade of the Empire State Building.
The five-minute projection show featured scenes from Star Wars history and paid special attention to the franchises, including Darth Vader, Palpatine, stormtroopers, and more.
Unique Experiences Inside the Building
Inside the historic New York building, new consumer products and photo opportunities were on display. On the iconic 86th Floor Observatory, for example, Star Wars fans can pose with a life-sized Funko POP! Darth Vader figure.
On the 80th floor, and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars, The LEGO Group has created a museum-quality display of life-sized Star Wars villains built from LEGO bricks. These include recreations of Darth Vader and Darth Maul!
Next up, the building’s iconic Fifth Avenue Lobby windows feature a special Star Wars display that depicts imagery of Darth Vader, Darth Maul, and stormtroopers.
Last but certainly not least, on the Empire State Building’s first floor, Hasbro and Amazon have teamed up to create a Star Wars experience with something for everyone.
The immersive retail experience gives visitors photo opportunities with their favorite characters, photo backdrops, and the ability to check out the latest Hasbro Star Wars products.
Catch it While You Can
The experience will remain open to the public through March 23.
“We’re excited to unveil a broad range of new products for fans of all ages with our extensive roster of licensees and retailers as we all march to May the 4th. We really brought the power of the Empire to the Empire State Building with this Star Wars takeover, creating a moment only fit for one of the strongest entertainment brands and most enduring franchises in the world,” Senior Vice President, Global Brand Commercialization, Lucasfilm, Disney Experiences, Paul Southern said.
