Orlando Airport Has Been Breaking Busy Records This Month!
For so many of us, Orlando International Airport serves as the ultimate gateway to our favorite vacation destination.
Every day, thousands upon thousands of eager passengers — many of whom wearing mouse ears — pass across that iconic carpet, having just arrived, or about to depart, from the gorgeous Orlando.
It probably wouldn’t come as a shock to anyone if we said that MCO is the top busiest airport in Florida, with government stats putting it as the 11th most busy airport in the US, and within the top 40 in the world.
However, have you ever stopped to guess how many passengers it would take to break a record at Orlando International? Well, we invite you to do just that.
Today, MCO posted that this month has seen a record-breaking number of travelers pass through in a single day.
On March 16th, 2024, a whopping 200,000 people came and went via the airport! This marked the busiest day in history for them!
It’s hard to even imagine so many people!
Our airport recorded the busiest day in history on March 16th with over 200,000 travelers passing through!🙌 A big thank you to our airport employees & partners for smooth operations & to our travelers for choosing us to be part of their journeys.

So, why all the movement? This was only last week, after all. Well, first of all, the US is currently in Spring Break season, and Florida is always a prime spot for families looking for a bit of springtime sunshine between school semesters.
Usually, it’s factors such as holidays that are a driving factor when it comes to crowd levels. However, other than St Patrick’s Day, March isn’t really the go-to month for celebrations. It’s surprising to think about all the busy holiday periods throughout the year — many of which the airport issues pre-emptive traffic warnings about — and how the record was broken by a random Saturday in March instead!
Walt Disney World Crowd Levels
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog, you’ll know we regularly share insights into crowd levels at the parks, particularly around peak times of year. So, how does the airport traffic this month compare?
Well, the results might surprise you. On March 18th, our reporters noticed surprisingly low crowd levels at the Magic Kingdom — despite the spring break considerations — although earlier in the month we’d seen many more people flocking to the parks.
As we head into Easter week, we’ll be paying a close eye on crowd levels across the Walt Disney World Resort, so be sure to stay tuned to MickeyBlog for updates!
In the meantime, we’d like to pass on our sincerest admiration and thanks to the teams at MCO, for their hard work and dedication to the operations at Orlando. The port always offers the best greeting to the destination in our eyes, and we couldn’t be more grateful!
