Disneyland Has Plans to Build One of the Largest Parking Garages in the World
As part of The Walt Disney Company’s DisneylandForward project in Anaheim, Disneyland Resort is once again set to build one of the world’s largest parking garages.
The massive Eastside parking structure would be bigger than the Pixar Pals and Mickey & Friends garages combined. The latter once had the distinction of being among the largest parking structures in the world, with 10,000 spaces.
Among the Largest Garages in the World
The new Eastside garage would hold a total of 17,600 spaces. That would make the garage larger than the 13,000-space Seattle Sea-Tac Airport garage and the 11,500-space Detroit Metro Airport garage, which are two of the largest in the world.
While the new proposed garage will certainly be impressive, it will not top the car park at the West Edmonton Mall in Canada, which can hold 20,000 vehicles. An adjoining overflow lot has room for 10,000 more cars.
If the proposed Eastside garage is built, Disneyland would have a total of 50,000 parking spots, 33,500 of which would be housed in the three garages.
DisneylandForward
The 1.9 billion DisneylandForward proposal is seeing to update the 1990s Anaheim city plan and would allow for a mix of new theme parks, hotels, retail, dining, and entertainment locations on the eastern and western sides of the Disneyland Resort. Recently, the Anaheim Planning Commission approved Disney’s expansion plans.
The new proposal is set to be voted on by the Anaheim City Council in May.
