Star Wars fans who attend the 25-anniversary theatrical re-release of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace will also get to see exclusive footage from the upcoming Disney+ series The Acolyte.
For those who don’t know, the first installment in the Star Wars prequel trilogy is set to return to theaters on May 3 to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

After the film’s final credits role, fans should stick around. Lucasfilm is promising that those who stay in their seats will be treated to an exclusive sneak peek at the upcoming Disney+ series, The Acolyte.
‘The Acolyte’
Coming to Disney+ on June 4, The Acolyte is set roughly 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace and will introduce audiences to the era of the High Republic.

According to the series’ official synopsis:
“An investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems.”
Essentially, the series will be a prequel to the prequel trilogy. More importantly, however, it will also add new context to the events of The Phantom Menace. “In an age of light, a darkness rises,” the show’s tagline teases.

At this time, we don’t know if The Acolyte footage will be scenes from the upcoming series, a trailer, or some sort of behind-the-scenes feature. Perhaps more details will be revealed as we get closer to May.
