106-Year-Old Magnolia Jackson Celebrated Her Birthday With Her First Ever Trip to a Disney Park!
Walt Disney once famously said that Disneyland was for the “young and the young at heart.” That description is especially apt for 106-year-old Magnolia Jackson, who made her first visit to a Disney Park when she visited Disney World to celebrate her birthday!
Magnolia’s passion for Disney was stirred when she watched her beloved Bethune-Cookman University Wildcats play in the annual Florida Classic in Orlando last fall. Seeing Drum Major Mickey put on an electrifying performance, Magnolia knew where she wanted to celebrate her next birthday.
Magnolia’s wish came true this morning when she arrived at Magic Kingdom to celebrate her 106th birthday.
A Special Moment For Everyone Involved
She was not only greeted by the sight of Cinderella Castle looming in the distance, but she was also welcomed by cheering Cast Members, Walt Disney World Ambassadors, and, of course, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, who brought balloons and cake!
Magnolia, who is the oldest living graduate of Bethune-Cookman, was serenaded with a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday.” There were smiles abounding and happy tears flowing.
Off to EPCOT
After a personal visit with Princess Tiana, Magnolia celebrated her love of gardening with a special trip to EPCOT for the Flower & Garden Festival.
Magnolia has a deep passion for both gardening and education, making EPCOT the perfect fit for her! The Bethune-Cookman alumnus spent 40 years as an educator, eventually serving as an elementary school principal. While attending Bethune-Cookman, she even met the school’s founder, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, a noted civil rights activist and advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
All in all, it was a magical day for everyone. Happy 106th Birthday, Magnolia!
