Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Musical Supervisor PJ Morton Talks Working With Disney
When Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens at Disney World and Disneyland later this year, the attraction will not only take guests back into the world of The Princess and the Frog, but it will also continue the movie’s musical legacy.
To help create the soundtrack for the new attraction, Disney turned to award-winning artists and New Orleans natives, PJ Morton and Terrance Blanchard.
Blanchard was tasked with helming the music arrangement for the attraction’s queue. PJ Morton, meanwhile, wrote, arranged, and produced the attraction’s original song. He was also charged with producing all-new arrangements of songs from The Princess and the Frog.
Getting to Work With Disney
In a recent interview on the Tamron Hall Show, Morton revealed that he has been a lifelong Disney fan, who always dreamed of working with Disney.
“Disney music and movies have always, I’ve been drawn to it. ‘Beauty and the Beast’…these songs, these big songs. And it was always a dream of mine to write for a movie. I actually never thought of writing for an attraction, because who does?
Creating Something That Lasts
While he may have never even imagined working on a Disney attraction, Morton knows that he is creating something that will stand the test of time. His music will now be heard by generations of fans, or as he puts it, his grandkids will hear his work.
“Splash Mountain was there 35 years, so at least 30 years we’ll have this,” he explained.
While we don’t have an opening date for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the attraction is expected to open this summer.
