NEWS: ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ Movie Releasing EARLY on Disney+!
As most of you may know, Taylor Swift’s concert movie of The Eras Tour will soon be streaming exclusively on Disney+, and we just found out some exciting news you need to hear about!
…Are you ready for it? In the middle of the night, in my dreams…well actually, I’m usually awake in the middle of the night watching Taylor’s surprise songs on a grainy TikTok livestream as she tours on the other side of the world. But, if you are somehow a Swiftie with a normal sleep schedule (what’s that like?), let me fill you in on what’s happening.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour on Disney+
As we found out a while back, Disney+ will be the exclusive streaming home of The Eras Tour movie. The movie was originally released in theaters in October of last year, then it was made available to rent for 48 hours on various streaming services for $19.89.
The digital rental of the movie was called Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Extended Version) because it included three songs from the concert that weren’t in the original theatrical release — “Long Live,” “The Archer,” and “Wildest Dreams.” The version of the movie coming to Disney+ will actually feature even MORE songs that were cut from the first two versions of the film, including “cardigan” and four acoustic songs.
The movie on Disney+ is affectionately called Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version), which is how Taylor has been differentiating her rerecorded albums she now owns.
When the news was first announced, we were told the movie would be available on Disney+ starting March 15th. But, a new trailer for the movie was just released, and it was revealed that we’ll actually be able to stream the movie even sooner — it will be available on Disney+ on March 14th at 9PM ET and 6PM PT!
Yes, your Friday watch parties can now be held on Thursday, so rearrange your plans accordingly. It feels like one of those nights we won’t be sleeping!
That’s not the only news we got from this new trailer, though. It was also revealed at the end that “Maroon” will be one of the four acoustic songs included in this version of the movie.
This pretty much confirms that the four acoustic songs added to the movie are the other surprise songs from the first three nights of her shows in Los Angeles, which is when the movie was filmed. So far, we’ve only seen “Our Song” on the guitar and “You’re on Your Own, Kid” on the piano included in this section of the concert movie.
For reference, the other acoustic songs filmed were “I Can See You” and “Death by a Thousand Cuts” on the guitar and “Maroon” and “You Are in Love” on the piano.
We don’t know 100% that these are the songs that are being added to the movie, but since “Maroon” has now been confirmed, I think it’s pretty safe to assume. Although, Taylor loves to surprise us, so we are never truly safe in our assumptions!
We’ll just have to wait and see what happens on March 14th. In the meantime, make the friendship bracelets, fill the pool with champagne, and remember this moment, because it’s going to be the best day.
