Ebon Moss-Bachrach Talks ‘Fantastic Four’ and Playing The Thing
With Ebon Moss-Bachrach officially cast as The Thing in Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four, the actor is already thinking hard about how his transformation into Ben Grimm will unfold.
In a recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Moss-Bachrach revealed that when it comes to bringing the Thing to life, Marvel is using a different tactic this time around. Instead of using a physical suit, Ben Grimm will be created using motion capture.
“In the past, I think they’ve done a suit. Michael Chiklis wore a suit that apparently was really uncomfortable, and it’s kind of…we’re past that,” Moss-Bachrach said. “It’s a little kind of cosplay, kind of amateur that kind of stuff now with the technology we have.”
Will ‘The Fantastic Four’ Be Set in the 60s?
During the interview, Moss-Bachrach was also asked if The Fantastic Four would be set in the 1960s. Based on the early promotional material for the film, that appears to be the case. However, nothing has been confirmed.
When posed the question, Moss-Bachrach was not giving anything away.
“That image does seem to be ’60s themed,” he quipped.
While we know that the MCU’s Fantastic Four will be comprised of Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), and Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm), details on the upcoming film remain scarce. Still, after years of waiting, the First Family of Marvel is finally coming to the MCU. That is exciting enough in its own right.
The Fantastic Four will hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
