Mars is Looking Like a Whole New Planet at EPCOT!
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog recently, you may have heard that the planets have been realigning like nobody’s business over at EPCOT.
Specifically, over in World Discovery, where Mission: SPACE has been Mission: REFURBISHMENT for quite some time now!
Whether you’ve ever braved this thrill ride or not, anyone who has visited this cool corner of the park will no doubt recognize the attraction’s eye-catching exterior, which has always featured a range of large planet models, fun signage, and even some intriguing artifacts.
The large Mars planet statue has recently been hidden under scrim, but we’re thrilled to say this barrier has finally been removed!
And there she is, in all her glory.
After a significant refurbishment, the red planet is looking hot and celestial — and we’re sure happy to see her back in action!
While probably best admired from afar, close-up shots of the model show it’s looking much more alive than it had been before the refurb.
We can see texture and colors, and we’re sure any little scientist would approve of Mars’s new look here at EPCOT!
It’s worth saying that, as of this week, the large Earth planet and the exterior Mission: SPACE sign are still missing from the area.
You could say that the Mars scrim removal was more one small step rather than one giant leap, but it’s all about perceptive I guess.
Throughout this all, Mission: SPACE remains open to guests to ride, and diners can still enjoy a flight and food at the neighboring Space 220 Restaurant.
As always, be sure to stay tuned to MickeyBlog for all the latest refurbishment updates from EPCOT…and beyond!
