NEW Buses With Charging Ports and Accessible Seating Debut in Disney World
Beep beep!
We’ve got some big news coming from the Walt Disney World Transportation department — and it’s all about those iconic Disney buses!
Walt Disney World Buses
The Walt Disney World buses are indeed a key part of many guest’s vacations. Whether you’re eagerly boarding en route to an exciting day at the parks, or returning “home” to your resort following a busy adventure, these buses are always going to be there to whisk you away to the magic.
So, whenever there are any updates to these buses, we’re always keen to check them out!
On today’s visit to the parks, one of our reporters was lucky enough to board a recently refurbished Disney bus.
Of course, we snapped some photos, and are excited to share with you now some of the impressive new features the transport offers. Keep reading, and let’s see what’s on board!
Improved Accessibility Options
A key part of any transportation option here at Disney is accessibility, so we’re thrilled to start this review with a look at some of the improved access features available on this bus.
In the center of the bus, aligned with a movable access ramp, there’s lots of space aboard for wheelchair or ECV users to park their wheels. Signage alerts guests to the equipment in the area, which includes seat securements and non-skid flooring.
You’ll notice from the photos that all the seating around this front-center portion of the bus is foldable, securely stowed away while not in use.
This means there’s still plenty of space and room for all guests riding the bus, whether or not ECVs, un-foldable pushchairs, or other wheels are also aboard!
Charging Ports
Another new feature we’re excited to see on this newly refurbished bus is the increase in charging ports.
These handy USB ports can now be found on all seats on the bus, including those fold-down chairs at the front.
I’m sure you’ll agree that this feature is very handy for a busy day of checking Disney Genie+ and snapping all those character photos on your devices!
Make sure to remember to pack a cable into your Disney bag on your next trip so you can charge on the go!
Further Refreshments
The accessibility improvements and charging ports aren’t the only upgrades we noticed on this newly refurbished bus either, as further refreshments were also identifiable all along the carriage.
On the steps up to the raised rear portion of the bus, we can see re-painted edging, providing a safe marker that’ll be clearly visible to guests riding at night.
The overhead hand grips have also been reworked, always with safety in mind!
After speaking with a friendly driver, our reporter learned that there are currently around 95 refurbished buses like this in the Walt Disney World fleet at the moment.
It is important to note that, with over 300 buses reported to be in the fleet in total, this means that guests may not always get to ride a refurbished bus like this on their next trip around the resort. However, we do hope to see many more get these impressive upgrades in the near future!
