Genneya Walton Joins the Cast of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’
Daredevil: Born Again is adding another accomplished actress to its cast, as Genneya Walton has signed on to the upcoming Disney+ series.
While it is unclear what role Walton will be playing, Deadline is reporting that it will be a “young journalist with connections to a character from the original series.”
If you are a Daredevil fan, then you know that journalism has always played a central role in the franchise’s stories. By the sound of things, perhaps Walton will be playing a relative of Vondie Curtis-Hall’s Ben Urich.
Urich was a reporter for the New York Bulletin who became an ally to Matt Murdock and a mentor to Karen Page. Kingpin eventually murders Urich, with Page taking his place at the Bulletin.
Watson Has Been Busy
Watson most recently had a recurring role in Netflix’s Never Have I Ever on Netflix. Her other credits include Candy Cane Lane, Darby and the Dead, Project Mc2, and #BlackAf.
Daredevil: Born Again, meanwhile, has gone through a creative overhaul that will see the upcoming series tie more directly into the original Daredevil show. After production was shut down last year due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, Keven Feige and Marvel executives decided the show was not working. With filming restarting at the end of January and a new creative team installed, the series seems to be back on track.
With Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Wilson Bethel, and Benjamin Poindexter all set to reprise their Daredevil roles, fans of the original series should be in for a real treat.
