Marvel Unveils New Name For ‘WandaVision’ Spin-off ‘Agatha’ — Then Deletes the Post
With season 1 of X-Men ’97 set to conclude this Wednesday, many fans are starting to look forward to the next Marvel Studios release on Disney+.
As part of the studio’s overall release strategy, Marvel will only release two live-action series on Disney+ this year, Echo, which debuted in January, and the WandaVision spin-off Agatha.
If you have been following the development of Agatha at all, then you know that the series has gone through numerous title changes in what appears to be some kind of marketing ploy, or bit, by Marvel.
The Many Names of ‘Agatha’
The series was initially titled Agatha: House of Harkness from the time it was announced in December 2021 until July 2022, when the name was officially changed to Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
That name would stick around until September 2023, when the show was retitled Agatha: Darkhold Diaries. Then, in March of this year, the series’ title was shortened to simply Agatha. That brings us to today.
Earlier this afternoon, Marvel Studios posted a new logo for the series, which revealed yet another new name — Agatha: The Lying Witch With Great Wardrobe.
The obvious take on C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe seemed to hint at the irreverent nature of the upcoming series. It also continued the running gag of name changes.
Interestingly, however, Asad Ayaz, Disney’s President of Marketing, responded to Marvel’s post with “what.” The post was then quickly deleted.

What Does it All Mean?
While at face value, it looks like Marvel made a mistake in posting the new Agatha name. More than likely, however, this is part of the series’s admittedly interesting marketing strategy.
Ayaz has commented on the Agatha name changes before. When Scarlet Witch Updates asked on X if Agatha: Darkhold Diaries would undergo another name change, Ayaz quoted the post and responded with a wide-eye emoji.
For now, it looks like Agatha’s title is not, changing to Agatha: The Lying Witch With Great Wardrobe. What all these name changes mean, however, remains to be seen.
