Doubloon Lagoon Pool Closed for Refurbishment at Port Orleans – French Quarter
Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter is famous among Disney fans for its colorful decor, lively energy, and delicious Mickey beignets. But the resort is equally popular for its Mardi Gras-themed Doubloon Lagoon pool.
Unfortunately, guests hoping for a ride down the pool’s popular sea serpent slide will have to wait a little longer.
Back in September, MickeyBlog reported that the pool — along with Mardi Grogs Pool Bar — was slated to close for refurbishment in January 2024. Now, one week into February, the pool has finally closed to resort guests.
Let’s investigate!
Doubloon Lagoon Pool Closed for Refurbishment
As of this week, the entrance to the resort’s feature pool has been blocked off. Signage indicates that Doubloon Lagoon Pool is officially closed for refurbishment.
Loungers and tables have been removed from the area, and work appears to be well underway.
Meanwhile, Mardi Grogs Pool Bar is also currently closed.
When open, the pool bar serves up an array of salads and sandwiches, along with New Orleans-inspired cocktails.
Signage indicates a temporary bar is available near Building 5 along the Sassagoula River.
Guests may also notice the absence of two of the resort’s iconic Mardi Gras alligators, which have been removed for the time being.
The refurbishment was originally expected to begin in January 2024 and last through April 2024. Since the project did not begin in January as scheduled, guests should be prepared for the work to continue into early May.
In the meantime, Port Orleans — French Quarter guests are directed to use Ol’ Man Island Pool, located nearby at Port Orleans — Riverside.
If you’re staying at Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter during the refurbishment, don’t fret! The walk to Ol’ Man Island Pool should take no more than 10 minutes.
