BREAKING: Atmospheric River HITS California and Shuts Down Disneyland EARLY
We’ve got a weather post, but this time it’s for Disneyland Resort…not Disney World.
An atmospheric river has officially hit California, with the worst of the storm expected today, February 5th. Here’s everything you need to know about the storm–including how it will affect your Disneyland trip.
State of Emergency
On Sunday, Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency for various Southern California counties, in anticipation of the storm. The LA Times cited “near record rainfall and flash flooding” as some of the issues Southern California residents (and visitors) can expect.
CBS News reports that Los Angeles officials have asked people to stay inside and refrain from driving today. Due to the storm, certain areas of Southern California have been hit with evacuation orders, lasting until tomorrow. Additionally, various schools are closed today to keep people off the roads.
According to CBS News, a flood watch has been posted by the weather service’s LA office (which lasts until Tuesday at 4PM), warning of a high risk for life-threatening flooding.
Disneyland Resort
So, what will this storm do to your Disneyland trip? Those visiting the resort yesterday, February 4th, had to leave the parks early due to the storm. And if you’re visiting today, your visit will also be shortened.
Disneyland’s calendar currently shows the following changed hours for today:
