Internationally Renowned Pianist Lang Lang Performs Historic Concert at Hong Kong Disneyland
As it turns out, Lang Lang is not only one of the world’s greatest pianists but also one of the biggest Disney fans.
In fact, it was his Disney fandom that made his one-night-only concert at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort so special.
Lang Lang took to the resort’s Castle of Magic Deams stage for a concert inspired by the theme song “Love the Memory” from Hong Kong Disneyland’s Niggtime Spectacular Momentous.
An Unforgettable Performace
During the performance, the world-renowned pianist played 14 classic Disney melodies, including “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” “Let it Go,” and “It’s a Small World,” accompanied by a string quartet.
“Having a live concert in front of a Disney castle has always been a dream of mine,” Lang Lang said. “I’m thrilled that my dream has come true at Hong Kong Disneyland! Disney’s stories and music have played a significant role in my childhood and inspired my musical journey greatly. Through Disney’s unique storytelling, I hope this show will offer the audience an innovative perspective to appreciate classical music.”
Lang Lang was joined by Mickey Mouse at the start of the concert, while other characters, including Elsa, Miguel, Belle, and Beast, joined the performance later.
“I was as excited as our guests who enjoyed this one-of-a-kind concert featuring the world-famous piano virtuoso Lang Lang at the Castle of Magical Dreams,” said Michael Moriarty, managing director, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. “With Lang Lang’s magical interpretation of classic Disney melodies, accompanied by stunning visual effects and sophisticated Disney storytelling, the concert has elevated the already extraordinary entertainment experience at Hong Kong Disneyland to new heights.”
Inspiring the Next Generation
Following the concert, Lang Lang met with a group of aspiring young artists from local schools and community organizations who had been inspired by the pianist.
Among these young artists were musicians with visual disabilities from the Arts With the Disabled Association Hong Kong and a Make-A-Wish child named Bells.
Bells is a huge fan of Lang Lang and is currently preparing for her performance diploma examination. Meeting the pianist was a dream come true for her.
During their exclusive meet-up, she asked Lang Lang for tips as she prepared to showcase a piece for the Make-A-Wish Gala Dinner in March.
All in all, it was a magical experience for everyone involved.
