Rivera, who celebrated her 91st birthday last week, has earned some of the most legendary awards in the entertainment industry.
Her career achievements include a Kennedy Center Honor and a Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement.
The multi-hyphenate actress-dancer-singer has won two Tony Awards and has wowed audiences going all the way back to Guys and Dolls.
When that play debuted in 1950, Rivera was only 17 years old, yet her dancing dazzled Tinseltown.
The Broadway performer would define roles such as Anita in West Side Story and Velma Kelly in Chicago.
Her work as the lead in The Kiss of the Spider-Woman established the story for the generations that followed, as she opened the project on Broadway and won a Tony for her performance.
For Disney fans, Rivera stole our hearts as one of the most impressive performers at EPCOT’s Candlelight Processional.
Here’s a video of her performing during the 2022 event:
Rivera was 89 years old at the time! Disney also asked her to visit students when possible.
