Harrison Ford’s ‘Star Wars’ Script Is Hitting the Auction Block
An important piece of Star Wars history will hit the auction market next month when Harrison Ford’s Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope script goes up for sale.
The script was owned by Ford when he was filming the iconic film at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire. At the time of filming, the movie was still titled The Adventures of Luke Starkiller.

Needing somewhere to stay that was close by, Ford rented a flat on Elgin Crescent, Notting Hill. It was in this home that he would eventually leave the script behind.
Ford Befriended His Landlords
The script is incomplete and unbound, featuring different colored pages that indicate revisions. There are also reportedly scenes and characters cut from the final edit.
While living in the Elgin Crescent flat, Ford developed a relationship with the building owners who lived on the bottom floors.

According to the family, Ford was “an excellent tenant, very tidy.”
Reminiscing, they recalled that Ford bought new plants for their garden and even attended their son’s first birthday party.

“He was an ideal tenant. It really was a fun time,” they added.
A Piece of ‘Star Wars’ History
The Star Wars script is being auctioned off by Excalibur Auctions’ auctioneer Jonathan Torode, who reminded potential buyers that at the time Ford had the script, the new one had a “clue how big [Star Wars] was going to be.”
The auction also notes that the script includes a call sheet for the Death Star hallway to core shaft scene that featured Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.

On the back of the script, there is a reference to a meeting involving producer Robert Watts at Browns Hotel, Dover Street.
An estimate of £800 to £1,200 has been placed on the shooting schedules, notes, and telephone numbers. Overall, the piece is expected to fetch somewhere between £8,000 and £12,000.
“The touching backstory to these items adds even more appeal for avid Star Wars fans and we anticipate huge interest from around the globe,” Torode added.
