Tron: Ares Finally Begins Shooting!
Now that we are officially through the holiday season and the Hollywood strikes are a thing of the past, studios are starting to ramp up production and get back to work.
After a series of delays, Tron: Ares has officially started filming, according to director Joachim Ronning.
Ronning, who has kept fans apprised of the progress of Tron: 3, took to social media to announce the film’s initial delay.
“Today was supposed to be our first day of principal photography on ‘Tron: Ares’ (a movie subsequently about AI and what it means, and takes, to be human),” Rønning wrote. “Instead, we are shut down with over a hundred and fifty people laid off. It’s indefinite, which makes it exponentially harder for everyone.”
Production Resumed Last Month
Last month, the director took to social media and announced that the production of the third Tron film had resumed following the end of the SAG-ATRA and WGA strikes. Now, filming is underway.
Tron: Ares will bring fans back to the Grid for a story that is “about AI and what it means and takes to be human,” according to Ronning.
Previously, it was announced that the film would see a threat emerge from the computer world into the real world, flipping the traditional script of Tron films on its heads.
Tron: Ares will star Jared Leto in the main role alongside Evan Peters, Gretta Lee, and Jodie Turner-Smtih.
At this time, we do not have an official release date for Tron: Ares.
