Marvel Studios Has Reportedly Decided to Recast the Role of Kang
After a Manhattan jury found Jonathan Majors guilty of assault and harassment during a March 2023 incident with his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, Marvel Studios quickly severed ties with the embattled actor.
Majors was being primed as the next Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) big bad- Kang the Conqueror. After debuting as a version of He Who Remains in Loki Season 1, Majors went on to reprise the role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Loki Season 2.

Kang was set to permeate the upcoming MCU releases, culminating in Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

While the easiest solution going forward for Marvel would be to recast the role of Kang (which the studio has done before with other characters), some speculated that following the box office bomb of Quantumania, Marvel would simply move away from Kang-based storylines altogether.
Marvel Will Continue the Kang Storyline
Although Marvel has yet to officially announce their plans, according to insiders at both Deadline and CBR, Marvel has decided to recast the role of Kang, and the process is underway.
Per Deadline’s Justin Kroll, Marvel is expected to take its time in naming Majors’ replacement, and thus, the rampant speculation on social media may be premature.

“See a lot ‘who will play Kang next’ and ‘here is a top contender for Kang’ comments this week. And all I’ll say is this, don’t expect that news anytime soon. There will be plenty of Marvel breaks in coming weeks on various fronts. But don’t hold your breath on that one” Kroll wrote on X.

Clarity About the MCU’s Future
While names including Jon Boyaga and Coleman Domingo have been thrown around by fans as possible Kang replacements, it sounds like Marvel is taking its time before making a decision.
What is interesting, however, is that Kevin Feige and his team have seemingly decided to move forward with the Kang storyline.
