Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Reopens at Magic Kingdom
Everyone’s favorite rickety railroad is back to rocking and rolling as normal, as Big Thunder Mountain has once again reopened at the Magic Kingdom today!
It’s a gorgeous January Sunday here in Orlando, and those red-rocky peaks of the abandoned gold mining effort are looking brighter than ever.
If you’ve been following along with us this month, you’ll know that this fan-favorite classic coaster attraction has recently seen a short period of closure here in the Magic Kingdom.
Between January 16th and 20th, Big Thunder Mountain was closed to guests as it underwent “regularly scheduled maintenance.” Now, the grand re-opening day has arrived, and MickeyBlog was there to celebrate!
Is there a more perfect sight than a short stand-by entrance time on a favorite ride?
It’s great to see so many guests over here in Frontierland this morning, eagerly anticipating a spin on the “wildest ride in the wilderness.”
Up until today, this space was considerably more empty, with just a few humorous signs about goats to liven the atmosphere!
Of course, our reporters were quick to jump in that line, and see what had changed aboard the mine train coaster.
This is always a fun attraction to ride, but the experience seems so much more fun in the pretty morning sunshine!
So, according to the previously-posted ride closure information, Big Thunder Mountain had been undergoing some “regularly scheduled maintenance.”
While Disney don’t usually get more specific about what they’re doing, we can assume this entails standard safety testing and any necessary tweaks to the ride system, as well as the occasional repaint or upkeep to the attraction’s props and backdrop.
According to our keen-eyed reporter, there were no major changes identifiable aboard the ride today, meaning it still remains that fan-favorite attraction we all know and love.
If anything, the MickeyBlog report is that the ride felt even smoother than normal – so that’s certainly a win in our eyes!
If you’re a Big Thunder Mountain Railroad fan, we hope you enjoy riding this glorious attraction the next time you’re in the Magic Kingdom!
