Short Closure Begins for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Disney World
Disney World closures can be a real bummer. Sometimes they’re scheduled, so you know ahead of time, but other times they’re unpredictable due to things like the weather or technical difficulties.
Right now, there are several closures happening at Disney World, and another just joined that list!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Closed
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed starting today, January 16th, through Saturday, January 20th for regularly scheduled maintenance.
We stopped by the ride this morning to check on the closure, and there are some Cast Members out front to let guests know what’s going on.
Disney is having a bit of fun with the closure — they’ve got a goat infestation sign posted outside the entrance to the ride!
As you can see, there is a mountain goat infestation and they’re seeking miners with herding experience.
We did see some guests lingering around the entrance. Do note that the ride isn’t even showing up as an option with a wait time on the My Disney Experience app.
So, sorry if you’re at Disney World right now and wanted to get on the roller coaster, but at least it’s not a long closure! It should be opening back up on Saturday or Sunday this weekend.
The ride joins Kali River Rapids and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster as being closed right now due to maintenance. Kali River Rapids will be down until mid-March and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster doesn’t currently have a reopening date, but it should be sometime this summer.
