D23 Is Coming to Brazil This November and Will Stream on Disney+
The Walt Disney Company is getting set to expand D23 in all kinds of new directions.
Asad Ayaz, Disney’s Chief Brand Officer, laid out the company’s plans at the fourth annual Tech and Data Showcase in Las Vegas.
According to Ayaz, Disney is planning on taking D23 to a “whole new level.” The next event is scheduled from August 9 to 11 in Anaheim, California.
The last D23 convention took place in 2022. According to Ayaz, that event drew almost 80,00 and generated 280 billion digital and social media impressions. That number carries a media value of $3.8 billion.
“It’s akin to our Super Bowl or Comic-Con weekend,” Ayaz said.
D23 Will Stream on Disney+
To reach fans who cannot attend the event, Disney is planning to stream portions of the convention on Disney+ for the first time ever.
Additionally, this year’s convention will feature musical performances from top artists and an exclusive shopping experience.
D23 is Coming to Brazil
Finally, Ayaz revealed that D23 is set to expand internationally for the first time ever. The company is planning an event in Sao Paolo, Brazil. At this time, however, no additional details are known.
According to Ayaz, Disney’s D23 expansion is motivated by the “fans who are incredibly passionate, feel a true sense of ownership over our brands and characters, and have been with us through multiple stages of their lives,” the exec said. “Our fans are not merely passive observers. They’re active participants.”
Tickets for this year’s D23 convention will go on sale on March 26.
