Disney+ Adds the Netflix ‘Defenders Saga’ Shows to the Official MCU Timeline
Whether or not the Netflix Marvel shows, also known as the Defenders Saga, were part of the mainline MCU has been debated for years.
In case you don’t remember, there was a time before the launch of WandaVision when Marvel Television was making streaming series for Netflix. Beginning with 2015’s Daredevil, Marel television created a gritty “street-level” universe that was intensively set in the MCU.
While Marvel Television and Marvel Studios were technically under the same umbrella, the two studios largely worked independently of each other.
While the Defenders Saga series was well received by fans and critics alike, Disney folded Marvel Television in 2019. At that time, Marvel Studios announced it would soon be creating new MCU streaming series for Disney+.
Netflix Marvel Characters Enter the MCU
With the demise of the Netflix Marvel series, the canonicity of the shows remained in doubt. Eventually, Charlie Cox would reprise his role as Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Vincent D’Onorfrio meanwhile returned as Kinpin for the Disney+ series Hawkeye.
While the Defenders Saga characters were now permeating new MCU content, whether or not their solo adventures had occurred in the mainline MCU remained unclear.
Well, after years of debate, we finally have an answer. Disney+ has now officially added the Defenders Saga show to the MCU timeline, not only confirming that they are canon but also revealing the time period in which the shows took place.
Where the ‘Defenders Saga’ Series Fit in the MCU Timeline
If you want to watch the Defenders Saga shows at the correct time in the MCU, here is when you turn on each one.
