Aaron Rodgers Will Not Appear on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ For the Rest of the NFL Season
After yet another controversial appearance on Wednesday’s show, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not be appearing on The Pat McAfee Show for the rest of the NFL season.
The latest controversy surrounding Rodgers began when the quarterback insinuated that talk show host Jimmy Kimmel would appear on the Jeffery Epstein list.
While Rodgers eventually backed away from those comments, he continued to take shots at the ABC employee in a subsequent appearance.
Rodgers Goes After ESPN
Following Rodgers’ comments, ESPN released a statement apologizing for the quarterback’s “dumb and factually incorrect joke.”
In his final appearance on McAfee, Rodgers seemed to take umbrage with the statement.
“I don’t understand… a Mike Foss comment because he didn’t help out either,” Rodgers said. “And I’m going to quote Mike Foss. He said, ‘Aaron made a dumb and factually incorrect joke about Jimmy Kimmel. That should never have happened. We all realized that in the moment.’”
“Mike, you’re not helping. You’re not helping because I just read earlier exactly what I said,” he added.
McAfee Says Rodgers is Done for the Season
On Wednesday’s show, McAfee revealed that Rodgers would not be appearing on the show for the rest of the football season.
“So, Aaron Rodgers Tuesday Season 4 is done,” McAfee said. “There’s gonna be a lot of people who are happy about that, myself included to be honest. The way it ended – it got real loud. I’m happy that that is not gonna be in my mentions going forward which is great news.”
While McAfee stated that he has retained the creative rights over the show while admitting that the Rodgers interviews had given his critics ammunition.
“Over the last week, we have certainly given them all a lot of stuff to get mad about and become loud about. We messed up in that particular aspect and by we I mean we’re a conversation show, people are having conversations. We live in a country that has freedom of speech, but also you’re gonna have to deal with the consequences of your freedom of speech,” he said.
“So, what I’m saying is we’re giving a lot people who’ve been waiting for us to fail a lot of ammo in things to attack us for over the last week and we would love to get back to the point where we just move on and continue to silence all the haters over here who can’t negotiate as good as I can,” McAfee continued.
“All the people over here who can’t create as good a show as us and all the people up here who will always be here and they’re gonna hustle and do their thing and I respect, but we need to do that and that is our focus and that is our goal.”
A Relief For the Host
In the end, McAfee sounded happy that he would not have to deal with the headaches that the Rodgers interviews caused.
“Some of his thoughts and opinions, though, so p-ss off a lot of people. And I’m pumped that is no longer going to be every single Wednesday of my life, which it has been for the last few weeks. On Friday, I threw us into the fire as well – forever stand by that,” he said.
“Everything else, though, like, just can’t do that and not what we want to be known for. And I’m also pumped I don’t have to do these types of talks anymore.”
