Iman Vellani Reveals What Directors She Would Like to Work With

While The Marvels turned out to be an abject disaster for Marvel Studios last year, the film once again proved that Iman Vellani was a star.

After leading the criminally underrated Ms. Marvel on Disney+, Vellani showed that she could hold her own on the big screen opposite established stars like Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson.

With the end of The Marvels setting up Vellan’s Ms. Marvel as the leader of a newly-formed Young Avengers, the future of the MCU looks to be in the young stars’ hands.

Vellani is a Marvel Superfan

Besides being a talented actress, Vellani is also something of a Marvel superfan. Not only has the young actress spoken openly about her love of all things MCU, but she has even written her own Ms. Marvel comic.

All of this is to say that Iman Vellani will clearly play a significant role in the future of the MCU. So, what director would she like to work with?

“Oh, I have so many. I mean, Jon Favreau, obviously. I met him at D23. And he’s the coolest,” she begins.

“I love his movies outside of Marvel, too. ‘Chef’ is one of my comfort films. I was talking about ‘The Mandalorian’ with him, and he literally handed me this heavy token with the Mandalorian emblem on it. It’s the coolest thing. I carry that around everywhere. Taika [Waititi]. I just feel like Taika would be vibes. Destin Daniel Cretton. I love ‘Short Term 12’. So I think he’s very talented.”

Once again, Vellani is speaking from a place of knowledge. Mentioning the often-overlooked Chef shows that in addition to being a “Marvel nerd,” the actress is a movie buff.

Hopefully, we will get to see Vellani’s Ms. Marvel again soon rather than later. And who knows, she may just get to work with some more of her heroes.
