Walt Disney World Wait Times Are Outrageous Today!
Do you wonder what Walt Disney World is like during Christmas Week?
Thanks to our brave park reporters, we can show you. But I’ll warn you in advance that it ain’t gonna be pretty.
Walt Disney World’s attraction wait times are outrageous today, and we’ve got visual proof that Disney isn’t exaggerating any.
Here Are the Posted Wait Times
As a reminder, Disney often adds a buffer to some of its wait times to encourage guests to visit other areas of the parks.
Let’s say that Disney wants more people in Tomorrowland.
It’ll increase the waits in Fantasyland and Adventureland to persuade guests to go right rather than left. But that’s not what’s happening today!
Look at this cloud of gigantic wait times!
That’s a LOT of attractions that require an hour or more of standing in line. And the chaos was park-wide!
Here’s the other side of Magic Kingdom:
Yes, we’ve got a 100-minute wait in Adventureland, which isn’t something we see often.
Our park reporters wondered whether this phenomenon might be exclusive to Magic Kingdom. So, they checked the other parks.
Here’s Animal Kingdom:
Sure, Avatar Flight of Passage is a stunner at a four-hour wait, but we’ve seen that before. Here’s the one that will bake your noodle:
Yes, that’s DINOSAUR averaging a 110-minute wait. We’re talking about an attraction Disney might replace soon due to its unpopularity.
People are still waiting two hours for it, and they’ve got no choice because Disney Genie+ sold out at Animal Kingdom for the first time ever.
Speaking of sellouts, here is Hollywood Studios:
You can understand why Disney Genie+ is vanishing quickly after the park opens. It’s the only reasonable approach today.
Finally, we have EPCOT, which passes for the calmest park experience at the moment.
Even here, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure lists a nearly three-hour wait!
Remember back on July 4th when the media reported Disney was in trouble due to empty parks on the holiday?
Oh, how we all long for those days!
Exploring Magic Kingdom
One of our park reporters bravely ventured to Magic Kingdom today to capture some images for you.
Some of this stuff isn’t anything you’ll ever see during a Disney trip…unless you visit around Christmas.
That crowd in the previous picture is standing in line for Mad Tea Party! And here’s Tomorrowland Speedway!
You can imagine how crowded Magic Kingdom is if these are the lines at the lesser park attractions!
Do you know where else is crowded? The Guest Experience Team lines. Here’s a picture of one:
And here’s another:
As you might expect, many guests are experiencing problems at the parks today, which happens due to the crowds.
Even places off the beaten path like Storybook Circus/Dumbo the Flying Elephant have crowds and long waits.
Ordinarily, I’d tell you to wait 40 minutes to ride Dumbo, but it’s what passes for an acceptable wait today!
As for Space Mountain, don’t even think about it! Look at the way Disney has set up the queue this afternoon:
Remarkably, that’s not even where the real crowds are. Here’s part of the attraction queue for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train:
I want to emphasize a point here. That sign is for the Lightning Lane entrance! People have paid money to enter that “shorter” line!
They didn’t have much choice, either. Here’s a sign for the standby entrance’s estimated wait:
What If We Went the Other Way?
Your Disney instincts have probably kicked in. Now, you’re thinking that you should probably head to Adventureland and Fantasyland instead.
Counterpoint:
Welp. That didn’t work. Peter Pan’s Flight rarely comes with a short wait, but two hours is a LOT, even for here!
In some of these pictures, you can see the guests staring at their phones, trying to find an attraction with a shorter wait.
Maybe the answer is It’s a Small World?
Honestly, in terms of bang for the buck, that’s not bad. After 50 minutes, you do get a 15-minute boat ride. So, there’s that.
But what if we headed to Haunted Mansion instead?
Ugh. Foolish mortals indeed. That’s quite a few more than 999 not-so-happy haunts standing in line.
So, that leaves us with Adventureland. How is Pirates of the Caribbean? Well…
Then, as you’d guess, everyone is still mobbing Jingle Cruise since the holiday overlay is going away soon.
Folks, if anyone tries to tell you that Walt Disney World is slipping in popularity, simply show them these pics.
This is one of the most crowded park dates I can ever recall, and I’m the guy who posts the weekly wait time articles!
The holidays definitely aren’t over at Disney. But even when the lines are long, you’re still spending the holidays at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
