‘Willow’ Star Ralph Ineson Sues Disney Over On-Set Injuries
British actor Ralph Ineson is suing Disney over injuries he said he sustained while filming a scene in the television series Willow.
Ineson claims to have suffered permanent shoulder damage during the night shoot in the United Kingdom.
The Incident in Question
In the scene, which was filmed in July 2021, Ineson was dressed as a knight in armor as he did battle with a nine-foot-tall ogre called The Scourge. During the fight, Ineson says he fell awkwardly and dislocated his shoulder.
Ineson is suing Disney for £150,000 ($190,500), claiming that his injuries have prevented him from taking on subsequent physical roles. Additionally, he says his ability to play roles involves horseback riding or fighting.
According to his suit, Ineson asserts that producers were pressuring the cast and crew to film to the deadline and clean the steps where Ineson fell.
Disney’s defense against the suit has not yet been made public.
Ineson’s Prolific Career
Ralph Ineson rose to fame as Chris Finch in Rickey Gervais’s UK version of The Office.
He has gone on to appear in the final two Harry Potter movies and Cleftjaw in Game of Thrones.
Willow was a reboot of the popular Lucasfilm franchise. The original 1988 movie starred Val Kilmer and Joanne Whalley. The Disney+ series was canceled after just one season. After spending $100 million to create the series, Disney removed it from streaming after just six months.
