Disney Releases ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ a Day Early
Percy Jackson fans got an early Christmas present when the new series Percy Jackson and the Olympians arrived on Disney+ and Hulu a day early.
Moving into the Tuesday night “prime time” slot that Disney created for Ahsoka, the new show will follow in the footsteps of Loki as the next big Disney+ release.
“We’re so grateful for the amazing and dedicated Percy Jackson fans who have enthusiastically supported this project from the very beginning,” said Pamela Levine, head of marketing at Disney Branded Television and National Geographic Content. “They’ve been counting down the days, and as a special thank you, we wanted to let our fans enjoy the first two episodes a bit earlier than expected.”
The Second Change to Percy Jackson’s Release Schedule
The early premiere was the second adjustment that Disney has made to Percy Jackson’s release schedule.
Previously, the company announced that the first episode of the series would debut on both Hulu and Disney+ and remain there through January 31.
Currently, fans can watch the first two episodes on Disney+ and the premiere episode on Hulu.
New episodes will drop weekly on Disney+ on Tuesday nights.
Rick Riordan Is Heavily Involved
The new Disney+ series is based on the popular Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. While 20th Century Fox previously adapted the franchise in movie form for 2010’s Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and 2013’s Percy Jackson: Sea Monsters, Riordan was a vocal critic of how his books were adapted.
This time around, Riordan is a writer and executive producer on the new Percy Jackson series.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
