Ethan Hawke REALLY Wants to Join ‘Star Wars’
Ethan Hawke joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as the main antagonist in the Disney+ series Moon Knight. Now, the Training Day star has his sights set on a different franchise.
For years now, Hawke has spoken openly about his desire to join Star Wars, regardless of the role he would play. In 2022, he talked about being a fan of the franchise despite never getting a chance to join.
“I mean, I did a hard public pitch! I know, and I see all these great people in these things and I could have played that part. I could have played that part. I guess somebody up there doesn’t like me.”
Hawke Continues To Campaign
On the TODAY show, Hawke once again pitched himself for a galaxy far, far, away while noting that so far, his self-promotion has been unsuccessful.
“That hasn’t worked,” he said with a laugh. “I’ve said it on every talk show, thinking I’m going to get [cast]. I’ve put it out there, but it hasn’t helped.”
During the interview, Hawke joked that he would play “Obi-Wan’s best friend” or whatever role he could.
“I’ll do whatever they want. Give me a lightsaber. I’ll be a bad guy, I’ll be a good guy, I don’t care.”
Opportunities Abound
With The Mandalorian universe still expanding on Disney+ and three new Star Wars movies in development, Hawke will get plenty of opportunities to potentially join the franchise.
Hopefully, he will finally get a chance to wield a lightsaber.
