Wyatt Russell Lauds His ‘Thunderbolts’ Castmates
Even though the film has yet to start filming, Wyatt Russell continues to laud his upcoming Marvel Studios film Thunderbolts.
The MCU story will see the formation of a different kind of Avengers — a team made up of antiheroes.
Under the watchful eye of Thunderbolt Ross, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine will assemble a new squad comprised of Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and U.S. Agent (Russell).
Praise For Florence Pugh
When discussing the film on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Russell lauded his fellow cast members, particularly Florence Pugh.
“I know everybody is sort of on this Marvel train right now of things not going so well. The team that they have with us, right now. You have Florence Pugh, who is arguably one of my favorite actresses going… She can, as they say, read the phone book and I’ll sit through all of it,” he gushed.
“Not a Straightforward Marvel Movie”
When discussing the rest of the cast and crew, including director Jake Schreier, Wyatt teased that Thunderbolts will not be a “straightforward Marvel movie.”
“Sebastian Stan, who has become a great friend, is incredible. David Harbor is amazing,” he began.
“I know Jake so well, and I know how smart Jake is and how much he cares about making something interesting and different and utilizing everyone’s talents to the best of their ability. The story that I think they’ve come up with is really interesting. I know parts of the story and how the story works, but I can’t talk about it. It’s not a straightforward Marvel movie as you’ve seen in the past.”
Filming Has Not Started
While Russell is clearly excited about the new movie, filming has not yet begun.
“We have not started shooting [Thunderbolts],” Russell confirmed. “We’ve almost started shooting that about 14 times, but not yet.”
Thunderbolts is scheduled to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
