Joel Edgerton Talks Possible ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Season 2
One of the biggest questions looming over the future of the Star Wars franchise is whether or not we will ever get a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The 2021 series saw Ewan McGregor return to his iconic role to continue the story of the famed Jedi Knight following the events of Revenge of the Sith.
Even though the show was marketed as a “limited series,” the popularity of McGregor and fan’s support for the series have led many to hold out hope that a second season could still happen.
Deborah Chow Says “Never Say Never”
While Kathleen Kennedy continues to say that there are no plans to continue Obi-Wan Kenobi, in August, director Deborah Chow said, “Never say never.”
“I mean, you’ve still got 10 years. So, there’s definitely, I’m sure, more stories to be told. For this one, we really did conceive it as a limited [series]. It really was meant to be beginning, middle and end,” she said.
“But you never say never. For me, just getting to spend more time with the character and Ewan as that character would be the greatest joy of it.”
Joel Edgerton Weighs In
In a recent interview with /Film, Joel Edgerton, who reprised his role as Owen Lars for the series, seemed to confirm that Lucasfilm has no plans to continue Kenobi.
“I haven’t heard,” Edgerton said. “Either it’s happening and they don’t want me … or it … I don’t know, I haven’t, no. The short answer is no, I haven’t. And I’m not even faking that I don’t know.”
Always one to poke fun at his character, Edgerton took a guess at what his character would be wearing should he return.
“But, if it does happen and I am in it, I’ll probably be wearing brown or some shade of brown. That’s all I know.”
For now, fans will have to make do with the six episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi that were released. You can watch the series now on Disney+.
