Tokyo Disneyland Announces “Celebrating Space Mountain: The Final Ignition” Ahead of Closure
Tokyo Disneyland fans will get a chance to blast off on the current version of Space Mountain one last time at “Celebrating Space Mountain: The Final Ignition!” on July 31.
For those who perhaps haven’t been keeping up with Tokyo Disneyland, the park’s Tomorrowland is set to undergo a major renovation that will see the land completely transformed. The new Tomorrowland Plaza will showcase the connection between Earth and the universe while representing a future where Humans live in harmony with nature.
A New Space Mountian is Coming
Space Mountain will also be closing and undergoing an extensive renovation as part of the Tomorrowland overhaul.
While Space Mountain will remain a roller coaster, the attraction will be rebuilt to become even more thrilling. The new version will also include state-of-the-art effects.
Although the new Tomorrowland is not slated to open until 2027, work has been ongoing since May. The Tomorrowland update is expected to cost Tokyo Disneyland 56 billion yen (roughly $383 million).
The Final Ignition
As one of Tokyo Disneyland’s opening day attractions, Space Mountian holds a special place in the hearts of the park’s fans. With this in mind, Tokyo Disneyland is giving fans a chance to take a final spin on their favorite ride.
While we don’t have many details, we know that between April 9th and July 31, 2024, guests will have a chance to attend a special event celebrating the iconic Tokyo Disneyland attraction.
According to the park:
“The Space Mountain attraction, which has been a favorite of guests since the Grand Opening of Tokyo Disneyland, will be completely transformed and reopen in 2027. Guests can journey into space one last time with the current version of Space Mountain during this special event.”
While some fans will surely be sad to see the original version of Space Mountain go, it is great to see Disney giving the attraction a proper sendoff.
