National Geographic Unveils Day Tours For Travelers Short on Time
National Geographic Day Tours has recently added half-day and full-day land itineraries to their portfolio for travelers who want to explore the world but may be short on time.
In total, there are more than 40 new shorter time-block tours available within the National Geographic Day Tours portfolio.
The tours take place in 14 countries throughout the world and are based on National Geographic’s “extraordinary legacy of storytelling and exploration.”
While we can’t cover each of the 100 tours that National Geographic is offering, I did want to highlight some of the new tours. So, let’s see what we got.
Paris, France: Baguette and Eclair Initiation with a French Master Baker
Inspired by the National Geographic Magazine article, “Explore the World Through 9 Different Breads,” National Geographic is now offering a Baguette and Eclair Initiation with a French Master Baker.
On this tour, you will take a hands-on lesson in a traditional French bakery. Taught by a French master baker, participants will learn the art of “making a superior dough, shaping and baking delectable treats, and about the importance of bread and pastries to French cultural heritage.”
If you or someone you know loves to bake, this would be the perfect tour!
Barcelona, Spain: Homage to Miró
If you are an art or architecture aficionado, you may want to check out the Homage to Miro tour in Barcelona, Spain.
On this tour, you will discover Miro’s artwork in a space created by architect Josep Lluis Sert.
Among the works you will see by Miro include paintings, sculptures, murals, paper, and lithographs, which were inspired by the artists and poets he met as he journeyed throughout Europe.
On the tour, you will also be able to visit the Fundacio Miro before it opens to the public. While there, you will learn from architectural and art restoration specialists. This tour was inspired by the National Geographic Magazine titled “Homage to Catalonia – and Miró.”
New York: Hudson Yards, Where Sustainability Meets Urban Design
Last but certainly not least, for those looking for a tour a little closer to home, you can take the Where Sustainability Meets Urban Design tour in New York.
While on this, you will learn about the engineering that built the Hudson Yards neighborhood above the railway yards in New York City.
On tour, you will also talk to the design team and visit areas that are not open to the public. This tour was inspired by the National Geographic article, “The New New York City Skyline.”
