Ryan Reynolds Calls Out ‘Deadpool 3’ Leaks
With the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Deadpool 3 has resumed filming.
Like other big-budget films, especially those of the superhero variety, the film’s production has taken place under a microscope, with new information often leaking before it was intended to.
Reynolds Blasts Those Leaking ‘Deadpool’ Spoilers
After the inclusion of Liev Schreiber’s Sabertooth was leaked by reporters who took on-set photos, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds took to social media to ask that the media help preserve Deadpool’s secrets and not ruin the surprise for fans.
“Surprises are part of the magic of theatrical movies. It’s important for us to shoot the new ‘Deadpool’ film in real, natural environments, using practical effects as opposed to making the movie indoors and digitally. Telephoto lenses continue to spoil surprises and create a difficult situation for everyone,” Reynolds posted on his Instagram story Wednesday.
Not the First Time ‘Deadpool 3’ Surprises Have Been Leaked
Even before the Sabertooth news was spoiled, the information had been leaking from Deadpool 3 at a consistent rate.
Earlier this year, for example, a photo of Hugh Jackman wearing Wolverine’s iconic yellow suit hit the internet.
“Here’s hoping some of the websites and social channels hold back showing images before they’re ready,” Reynolds continued. “The film is built for audience joy — and our highest hope is to preserve as much of that magic as possible for the finished film and the big screen. Part of the reason people post spoilers is because they’re excited. I realize these aren’t real world issues and it’s firmly in the ‘good problems’ bucket. I love making this movie.”
While it is unlikely that Reynolds’s plea will stop unscrupulous snoopers from spoiling what Deadpool 3 has in store, we would all be better off if they would.
Deadpool 3 will hit theatres on July 26, 2024.
