You Can Totally Skip Shanghai Holiday Kitchen at EPCOT’s Festival of the Holidays
The 2023 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is here and so are we! We’re at the first day of the event to see all of the new and returning holiday fun.
One of the major parts of the festival is the food, which is inspired by holiday traditions from a variety of cultures. So, let’s go check out one of the holiday kitchens right now!
Shanghai Holiday Kitchen
Shanghai Holiday Kitchen is in the China Pavilion and has a bunch of returning menu items this year.
Here’s a look at the menu:
First up, we’re trying the returning chicken skewer with creamy peanut sauce for $6.75.
This isn’t a huge portion for the price, but there is a lot of sauce which is nice!
The chicken is still a little dry though and we think it was served cold, or at least ours was. We’d call this a pass and wouldn’t get it again.
Also at the booth is the returning beef and noodle soup bowl with slow-braised beef shank, green onion, and house-made chili oil for $9.50.
You can also get the returning vegetable spring rolls with citrus sauce for $5.50.
There is one new drink at the booth this year — the Butterfly Lantern. This has butterfly pea blossom gin, vodka, prickly pear, lychee, soda water, and boba for $14.50.
This is an alcoholic drink, but we really couldn’t taste any of the gin. It’s super sweet!
It also had a bit of a rose perfume-ish aftertaste to it, which wasn’t our favorite. The glitter is fun though and it’s definitely a pretty drink to look like!
The boba is too chewy for us and it really doesn’t go with the drink, we’d skip this one too.
We also decided to try the bubble tea for $8.25. This is a classic milk tea with black and white boba pearls.
There is a lot of milk with just a little bit of tea in this drink! There were a lot of boba balls in this but they’re very tiny.
This kind of just tasted like you’re drinking a slight sweet milk with chewy boba. We wouldn’t get this one again either.
The other drinks available over here include the Brew Hub Year of the Dragon – Dragon Fruit Lager, the Kung Fu Master with vodka, triple sec, mango, orange juice, and soda water, and The Lucky Mo with citrus vodka, peach schnapps, piña colada mix, orange juice, and soda water.
