Go for the Food, Not the Drinks at this EPCOT Festival of the Holidays Booth
The 2023 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays has just begun and we’re at the park to take in all of the festivities! The festival will run until December 30th, so you have a good amount of time to check everything out.
One of the biggest parts of the festival is all of the holiday food! So, let’s go check out a returning holiday kitchen that’s almost always a winner.
Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen
Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen is right before the Mexico Pavilion!
Here’s a look at the menu, which features some new items.
We started with the new Giant Tostada de Chorizo for $11.50. This is a giant tostada with chipotle black bean purée, ground chorizo, salsa verde, queso cotija, crema Mexicana, and pickled onions.
We really enjoyed this item! The tostada was nice and crunchy, even with everything on top of it.
There was a little bit of spice from the salsa, but it added some great flavor. However, if you can’t handle spicy things, we’d avoid this one.
Next, we got the new Tamale de Barbacoa for $8.50. This is shredded barbacoa beef in a corn masa topped with mole negro, queso cotija, crema Mexicana, and pickled onions.
The corn masa is seasoned really well and was nice and creamy. The mole negro adds a little bit of heat to this as well as some sweetness.
We also enjoyed the crunch from the pickled onions. It was nice that this tamale was already unwrapped so you didn’t have to deal with unwrapping it and could just get straight to eating.
We thought the meat was well seasoned and tender. But, this is another dish that has some spice, so watch out!
We also grabbed the returning Dulce de Leche Churro sprinkled with cinnamon-sugar for $6.50!
The filling inside is nice and creamy and really makes this a winner! You can definitely taste the dulce de leche and there is also some sweetness in this from the vanilla, as well as some cinnamon flavor.
The outside is crunchy, which is good, but it is a pretty dense churro on the inside. However we thought it was delicious and better than most churros you can get in Disney World!
For drinks, we got the new Apple Margarita for $14. This has Centinela Blanco Tequila, apple purée, black tea-cinnamon cordial, and Nixta Corn Liqueur topped with whipped cream and holiday salt.
The tequila in this has a lot of smokiness to it, and it really takes over all of the other flavors. There is a slight sweetness, but we found this was mostly one note.
Our reporters said this was kind of difficult to drink!
We also got the returning Horchata Margarita for $13.25. This has Cinnamon-infused Ilegal Mezcal, Abasolo Corn Whiskey, Agua de Horchata, and cinnamon-horchata rum.
This drink was creamier than the first, but the Mezcal was also super smoky (which is how Mezcal normally is). But, it once again overpowered the other flavors here.
If you like super smoky drinks you might like these, but they weren’t our favorites.
You can also get the new Holiday Cerveza, which is a Mexican artisanal craft lager with black currant liqueur, which is $7 for 6 oz. and $13 for 12 oz.
Overall, the food here is a win but the drinks are a miss.
