Bob Iger Celebrated the End of the SAG-AFTRA Strike at the ‘Wish’ Premiere
When news broke last night that the 118-day SAG-AFTRA strike was coming to an end, Disney executives including CEO Bob Iger were gathering outside of the El Capitan Theater for the world premiere of Wish.
As Wish is one of the focal points of Disney’s 100th-anniversary celebration, the studio had pulled out all the stops for the pre-premiere party on Hollywood Boulevard.

High above the crowds, a Wish drone show was performed in the sky, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse were on hand to mingle with fans and guests alike.
“Now This Really Feels Like a Celebration”
Even without the presence of the film’s stars, the crowd outside the theater was buzzing. Then, word began to spread that SAG-AFTRA had approved the deal. Quickly critics, journalists, and Hollywood insiders gathered on the blue carpet and began to speculate what would happen next.
According to Variety, one critic was overheard saying, “Now this really feels like a celebration.”
It wasn’t only the journalists and critics who were abuzz with the news. Disney’s top brass, including Iger, Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman, and Wish filmmakers Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck were all smiles.

After posing for photographers the quartet headed into the El Capitan. Inside, however, executives did not address the crowd. Instead, house organist Rob Richard played the theater’s Wurlitzer organ and the film began.
Good News for ‘Wish’
With Wish not set to hit theaters until November 22, Disney has plenty of time to get its talent on board for publicity.
With Hollywood at labor peace for the first time in months, and productions set to ramp up shortly, it looks like everyone’s wish came true after all.
