On this day in 1971, the 90-minute special The Grand Opening of Walt Disney World aired.
The special was watched by 52 million people in the United States and featured celebrities Glen Campbell, Julie Andrews, Buddy Hackett, Jonathan Winters, and Bob Hope.
The Nightmare Before Christmas Released (1993)
On this day in 1993, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas debuted in the United States.
The stop-motion animated film told the story of Jack Skellington, the king of Halloween Town who decides to bring Christmas to his people after a visit to Christmas Town.
Disney and Chevron Announce Partnership (1998)
On this day in 1998, Disney and Chevron announced a partnership to refurbish Disneyland’s Autopia.
The updated attraction would eventually feature three different kinds of cars- an off-road style car, a sports car, and a Volkswagen Beetle-style car.
Wreck-It Ralph Released (2012)
On this day in 2012, Wreck-It Ralph was released.
The film tells the story of an arcade game villain who dreams of becoming a hero.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms Released (2018)
Finally, on this day in 2018, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms premiered in Los Angeles.
The film was a retelling of E.T.A. Hoffmann’s short story The Nutcracker and the Mous King and starred Keira Knightley.
