Poly Pumpkins Pack a Punch: Cast Member Halloween Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Disney Cast Members do not disappoint and the holidays are a time when they really get to shine. These Poly pumpkins pack a punch over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
Be sure to scroll through for close-ups of practically perfect pumpkins like this homage to Trader Sam’s!
NYAJ: Not your average job!
Disney resorts host Cast Member contests for various festivities (gingerbread houses at Christmas, eggs around Easter, etc) each year, and guests can vote for their favorites. The Contemporary Resort has some creative folks over there and you can check out their contest too!
Cast Member contests are a win-win for everyone. It’s fun for guests to see how creative and passionate Disney’s staff are, plus engaging and exciting for participants!
This level of creativity and attention to detail is not common for your average “workplace employee engagement” activity. As a result, we’re reminded that Disney Cast Members take things to a whole other level.
To show off all the pumpkins, they are grouped together by theme: General Pumpkins, Movie Motifs, and Perfectly Polynesian.
General Pumpkins
This pretty piggy and her piglets are snug and cozy in their pen. This creative crafted a whole scene for viewers to engage in with the straw, fence, and other little touches!
Carving out the little details of Mickey’s face is no small task! We love the simple elegance of this silver and purple pumpkin because of the divergence from a typical fall color scheme.
This white and gold pumpkin really does pack a punch; I love the not-so-hidden Mickey and the skeletons too! Now I’ve got the “spooky scary skeletons” song stuck in my head thankyouverymuch…
Movie Motifs
There are so many Disney movies one could choose from to decorate a pumpkin. If you’re looking for inspiration for your front porch pumpkins this season, here are a few that are sure to bring a smile to trick-or-treaters.
Jack Skellington really gets the majority of the last quarter of the year in the spotlight! He’s Halloween-y and Christmas-y and this pumpkin could grace your doorstep for several months!
To ease potential worries, this Snow White has a non-poisoned apple on display (or so the witch would like us to believe!). The wig added to this pumpkin really steps it up a notch!
We often don’t realize a core memory happening in the moment, but this pumpkin is a good reminder. Disney vacations create many core memories for millions of people every year.
This Inside Out inspired pumpkin will surely put a smile on lots of guests’ faces as they realize that their day probably will be a core memory day!
Sharkbait Ohh Ha Ha! Is this “Mount Wanna Haka Punk’n?” This artist established a whole fish tank scene with the aquarium decor and sweet Darla in the background!
Perfectly Polynesian
It wouldn’t be a good pumpkin contest without gourd-ous gourds inspired by the films and resort that we love so much! These last few pumpkins showcase characters from Polynesia or Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and these Poly Pumpkins pack a punch.
Lilo and Stitch greet guests each morning as they dine at Ohana’s for breakfast. The perfectly proportioned ears and big smile make this Stitch pumpkin adorable!
With Moana-inspired rooms at the Polynesian, it’s no surprise to see a few Mo-an-o-lanterns in the mix! Here we see Tafiti!
Up next, a crazed Kakamora pumpkin pirate. These little guys create lots of havoc for Moana and Maui; but hopefully, this little guy behaves himself while on display!
Maui assumes if you wear a dress, and have an animal sidekick, you’re a princess! Pua and Hei Hei are a perfect pair for this pumpkin decorating contest!
You may not realize, but the Polynesian Village Resort itself has a cult following and Kona Cafe is no exception. If you have a slow day, or just need a convenient dinner spot near Magic Kingdom, Kona Cafe is delicious and this Pumpkin Spice Latte looks good enough to eat!
Another location at the Poly that has a cult following: Trader Sam’s. This last pumpkin packs a punch for sure.
The octopus arms coming out of the top are amazing and only less intricate than the beautiful and ultra-detailed painted motifs.
The topsy-turvy tiki rests upon a platter showing off some of Trader Sam’s famous specialty cocktails like the Polynesian Pearl, HippopotoMai-Tai, Tahitian Torch, and the Dark & Tropical Stormy.
Each of these pumpkins deserves its spot in the limelight and their creators should be commended for their hard work! We’re thankful to all the Cast Member participants and we encourage MickeyBlog readers to vote for their favorite!
