Pixar’s ‘Elemental’ Dominates Streaming Charts Again
Pixar’s Elemental dominated the streaming charts for the second week in a row. Let’s take a closer look at Disney’s latest animated blockbuster.
The Top Movie on Streaming

Last week, we talked about the staggering debut of Elemental. It was the most-watched movie across all streaming services.
Nielsen just released this week’s ratings, and it’s two victories in a row for Pixar!

For the week of September 18th – September 24th, Elemental wasn’t just the most-watched film. It was the second-most popular streaming program overall!
For the week in question, Elemental beat every other movie and television show except for Suits, which has remained THE top streaming show all summer.
Elemental finished its theatrical run with a massive amount of momentum, and it’s gained that much more on Disney+.

According to Nielsen, viewers watched a combined 1,334 billion minutes of Elemental.
In other words, Disney+ subscribers viewed the entirety of Elemental more than 14 million times in a week or two million times a day!

More impressively, Elemental held well from the prior week, when it had debuted to 1,726 billion minutes.
Typically, streaming films drop quickly after their first few days of availability. Elemental didn’t do that, which hints at a stronger long-term performance.
Other Disney Streaming Hits

For the second straight week, Disney+ claimed the top two spots on Nielsen’s Movies Top 10.
The Little Mermaid claimed 393 million minutes of views, which is down from last week’s 588 million.
That’s the typical behavior for titles like this, which makes what Elemental has done thus far all the more impressive.
Meanwhile, as usual, Moana placed in the top ten, finishing ninth for the week with 214 million minutes watched.
That’s almost identical to last week’s 219 million minutes watched.
I can tell you from studying this data for years that it’s pretty much always how Moana does.

This title, the two Frozen films, and Avengers: Endgame typically hover in the 8-20 range on Nielsen’s Streaming Movies chart.
On the Acquired chart, Disney’s most consistent program once again excelled.
Yes, Bluey finished in second place with 856 million minutes watched. That’s actually up slightly from last week’s 835 million.
Why should parents pay for babysitters when they have Bluey?
Finally, on the Streaming Originals chart, Disney streaming services held down two spots.

Ahsoka’s first six episodes claimed 570 million minutes watched, while my beloved Only Murders in the Building managed 489 million minutes.
Ahsoka’s numbers are nearly identical to the previous week’s 577 million, while OMitB climbed from 456 million.
Overall, this week provided more good news in Disney’s ongoing struggle for streaming supremacy.
