This Day in Disney History- October 14
Welcome back to our continuing journey through Disney’s past. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- October 14.
October 15th was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured the opening of a classic Magic Kingdom attraction, the unveiling of an EPCOT simulator, and the debut of a Disney Halloween classic. So, let’s get started!
Farmyard Symphony Released (1938)
On this day in 1938, Farmyard Symphony was released.
The Silly Symphony featured farmyard animals going about their day, set to classical music.
The Green Yard Released (1949)
On this day in 1949, The Green Yard was released.
In the cartoon, Bootle Beetle tells his grandson how he made it out of Donald’s backyard.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Opens (1971)
On this day in 1971, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea opened in the Magic Kingdom.
The dark ride attraction took guests on an undersea adventure with Captain Nemo.
Steps in Time Opens (2001)
On this day in 2001, the final performance of Steps in Time took place at Disneyland Hyperion Theater.
Cast Members from all over the resort were invited to the final show.
Twitches Debuts (2005)
On this day in 2005, Twitches debuted on The Disney Channel.
The film was based on the popular teen book series by H.B. Gilmour and starred Tia and Tamera Mowry.
Sum of All Thrills Opens (2009)
On this day in 2009, Sum of All Thrills opened in EPCOT’s Innoventions pavilion.
The new attraction was sponsored by Raytheon and allowed guests to design their own ride and then experience it inside a simulator.
Duffy the Disney Bear Arrives at EPCOT
Finally, on this day in 2010, Duffy the Disney Bear arrived at EPCOT.
Mickey’s teddy bear was already previously a widely popular character at Tokyo Disneyland.
